Stephen P. Hughes was born in Quantico, Virginia, on February 28, 1954. He is a 1976 graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and International Relations. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina in 1979, and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar that same year. He began private practice with the firm in 1980. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina, in the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Hughes focuses his practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis upon construction litigation, administrative law, and governmental tax issues. He is a member of the Beaufort County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association.
